FAQs

Working for the Improved Access Service

Q: What is the Improved Access Service?
A: We are an out-of-hours service that provides routine, pre-bookable appointments to patients in and around Brighton and Hove. We work closely with the Primary Care Networks to support their patients and ensure that we are providing high quality care at convenient times.

Q: What are the hours like?
A: We run evening clinics Monday to Friday, from 18:30-20:30. Saturday and Sunday we run clinics from 9:00 to 17:00. There are a range of different shifts available during the weekend.

Q: How do I assign to shifts?
A: We will send you a link to sign up to Workforce Platform. Once you are registered, and the pre-employment checks have been completed, your account will be enabled and you will be able to add your availability via the schedule screen. You will also be able to view current shifts and assign to them.

Q: What is the training process?
A: You will receive a service induction with an IAS manager, either online via Teams or in person at our Brighton office. We will also send out a resource pack that details our processes, which can be referred to on shift.

Q: Will I receive support on shift?
A: Yes! Our team are available remotely during all shifts, and can be contacted via IM or phone. We can also arrange clinical shadowing for your first few shifts if needed.

Q: How does the pay work?
A: The pay run and payment dates depend on your role and current employment. Please email us for further details and we will be able to respond to you individually.

Q: Where will I be working?
A: Various GP surgeries across Brighton and Hove.
